Theo Rutherford is the Director of Wine and Spirits Education at Deutsch Family Wine and Spirits. He comes by the wine and spirits industry honestly, coming from the Fleischmann’s yeast family, who once owned over 30 spirits brands of their own. Before joining Deutsch, Theo was a Brand Ambassador for Jim Beam, a Beverage Director and Sommelier at several Michelin star restaurants, for James Beard award nominated chefs in DC. Additionally, Theo was a writer and contributor to local media and blogs in DC for their food and wine section and is a regular guest on TV stations nationwide.  He has even spent some time in Italy at Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi, as well as in Napa, Sonoma, Kentucky, and Indiana, getting his hands dirty and learning all he can about the production process of some of his favorite wines and spirits. However, he started his career knowing only that there was red, white, and pink wine, and most people didn’t like the pink one at the time because it was too sweet. Theo is a proud Washington, DC native and when he is not traveling around the world talking about wine and spirits, he still calls it home with his wife and daughter. (Washington D.C.)
